About
Ad Origine is a design gallery and sourcing practice working between Europe and North America.
Our work moves between contemporary design, vintage pieces, and studio craft.
We look for objects in the places where they are made, collected, restored, and exchanged. Markets, fairs, workshops, galleries, and private collections all form part of that search.
A lamp can transform an atmosphere. A chair can anchor a space. A handmade vessel can change the way a meal is experienced. The most meaningful objects are not merely useful or beautiful. They balance both.
We are particularly interested in the space where design and craft meet.
Modern culture often frames tradition as something restrictive, but we see it differently. Tradition is accumulated intelligence: generations of knowledge embedded in materials, techniques, and ways of making. The most compelling contemporary work often emerges not in opposition to tradition, but in conversation with it. This perspective guides the way we source, curate, and commission objects.
Ad Origine works with interior designers, hospitality projects, private collectors, brands, and individuals seeking access to exceptional objects and makers across Europe.
Sometimes we are asked to find the right lighting for a private residence or retail space. Sometimes we help a client build a collection around a particular material, period, or idea. We commission custom tableware for restaurants and special events, source accessories for hotels, or assist with the restoration of a piece that has been in a family for generations.
And sometimes we simply help someone find the right object for a room they want to enjoy more.
Through a network of designers, craftspeople, workshops, dealers, restorers, and specialists, we connect clients with objects and opportunities that often remain outside conventional channels.
At the heart of Ad Origine is a fascination with origins. We travel because objects rarely reveal themselves all at once. A piece discovered in a workshop in Tuscany carries a different meaning once you have met the maker. A ceramic vessel becomes richer when you understand the tradition behind it.
We believe that collecting is not reserved for museums or extraordinary rarities. A collection may begin with a chair, a ceramic cup, a woven textile, or a lamp discovered at the right moment.
Some of the most meaningful collections are lived with daily. These are the objects that interest us most.
To be collected and lived with.
